PILGRIM PIERCING STUDIO

Care Guide for Your New Ear Piercings

Post-Piercing Tips and Tricks

Pilgrim is a trusted destination for quality jewellery and a safe, professional piercing experience. This service is available at all of our boutiques.

It's crucial to take care of your piercing to ensure quick healing and minimize the risk of infections. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you take care of your new piercings.

  • STEP 1

    Gently Cleanse with Saline Solution

After piercing, gently clean the area with sterile saline solution twice a day. This helps prevent infections and removes secretions. Avoid using alcohol-based solutions (rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide) as they can dry out the skin and delay the healing process.

Note: Do NOT remove your earrings during cleaning. If you feel your earring is too tight, please come back to see us!

  • STEP 2

Avoid Touching the Piercing with Dirty Hands

Hands harbor bacteria, so be sure to wash them thoroughly before touching your piercing. Also, avoid unnecessarily rotating or moving your earring, as it can irritate the freshly pierced area.
  • STEP 3

Avoid Sleeping Directly on the Piercing

During the healing period, it's essential to avoid sleeping directly on the piercing. Use a clean pillow and change the pillowcase frequently to minimize the risk of contamination. If possible, try to sleep on the opposite side of the piercing to reduce pressure and friction.

It is also advisable to change your pillowcase once a week.

We recommend removing your clothes gently to avoid creating friction/contact with your ears.

  • STEP 4

    Choose Quality and Appropriate Jewellery

Opt for surgical steel, 14-18K gold, white gold, or titanium jewellery to minimize the risk of allergies. Ensure that the jewellery is neither too tight nor too loose, to allow proper airflow and support faster healing.

All our earrings are hypoallergenic certified, making them the perfect option to complete your dream earring set.

  • STEP 5

Protect the Piercing During Physical Activities

Avoid getting the piercing unnecessarily wet and protect it while swimming, using saunas, or during intense physical activity. Excessive sweat and chlorinated water can irritate the area and prolong the healing process. If you must swim, it's recommended to clean your ears immediately with saline solution.
  • STEP 6

Keep Your Piercing Dry for Optimal Healing

Keep your piercing dry at all times to prevent bacteria buildup. After cleaning with saline solution, use the dry side of a cotton swab to remove any excess moisture. During the healing process, always blow-dry your hair after washing or keep it tied up until fully dry to minimize humidity around the piercing.
  • STEP 7

Avoid Cosmetics and Hair Products Around the Piercing

Avoid applying makeup, lotions, or hair products near the piercing, as these can interfere with the healing process and cause irritation. Ensure that your hair does not get tangled in the earring.
  • STEP 8

    Monitor Signs of Infection

Stay vigilant for signs of infection such as excessive redness, swelling, yellow or green discharge, and persistent pain. If you observe any of these symptoms, we urge you to consult a healthcare professional immediately.

By following these simple yet effective tips, you'll promote quick and uncomplicated healing of your new needle-pierced ear. At Pilgrim, your well-being is our priority, and we're delighted to accompany you throughout this beautiful journey of body expression.

Enjoy your new piercing with style and safety!
